INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND
At the end of July, precisely July 29, 2015 Microsoft yesterday
officially launched its latest operating system Windows 10 computers
simultaneously in 190 countries. In Indonesia alone, Microsoft Indonesia
launched and introduced the OS Windows 10 for the people of Indonesia, located
in the Ritz Carlton. Windows 10 is the proudest OS from Microsoft as an OS that
can be used on a variety of devices, ranging from PCs to the Internet of Things
(IOT). Microsoft says that they have been testing the latest OS on more than
2,000 different devices.Andreas Diantoro as President Director of Microsoft
Indonesia stated that Windows 10 is the best OS in the history of Microsoft. He
was very confident that Windows 10 will be well-liked by fans of Microsoft.
Andreas also said not without reason. Because before the launch of Windows 10,
Microsoft has tested this OS on more than 5,000 people who joined in the
Windows Insider program. The system is built on the Windows NT kernel and Windows
8.Part of the reason Microsoft decided to name the release in 2015 under the
name "Windows 10" (and skip the "Windows 9") is because the
operating system is designed to be a new direction for Microsoft. One of the
main goals of Windows 10 is to bring together the experience of using Windows
on multiple devices, such as desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones. As
part of this effort, Microsoft developed Windows 10 Mobile along with Windows
10 to replace the Windows Phone, Microsoft's mobile OS before. Windows 10 also
integrates other Microsoft services such as Xbox Live and voice recognition
assistant Cortana. Besides the advantages of Windows 10 is looks quite similar
to Windows 7. Even Windo ws 10 is claimed to be able to run all applications
compatible with Microsoft's latest OS Windows 7. It also has faster
performance, one of them in the boot process. Not only that, the security of the
Windows 10 was also much better than previous Microsoft OS. For the Windows 10
Windows Defender implanted with enterprise-level security features. As well as

CONTENTS
A. DEFINITION OF WINDOWS 10
Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system
developed by Microsoft as part of Windows NT family of operating systems.
Introduced on September 30, 2014, was released on July 29, 2015 and in November
2015, Threshold 2 of Windows 10 (v10.0.10586) released to the public.First
introduced in April 2014 at the Conference on Build, Windows 10 aims to address
shortcomings in the user interface first introduced by Windows 8 by adding
mechanical enhancements designed to improve the user experience for devices
that no touch screen (such as desktop computers and laptops), including the
resurrection of the Start menu is visible on Windows 7 virtual desktop system,
and the ability to run applications in a Windows Stock windows on the desktop
than full-screen mode.
B. HISTORY OF WINDOWS 10
In April 2014, at the Build Conference, Terry
Myerson from Microsoft launched the latest version of Windows which adds the
ability to run Windows applications inside a window Stock desktop and the Start
menu is more traditional. The new Start menu is formed after the design of
Windows 7 by using only a portion of the screen and includes a list-style
applications Windows 7 in the first column. The second column shows the Metro
UI Windows 8-style apps Myerson stated that these changes will happen in a
future update, but did not explain further. Microsoft also launched the concept
of "Windows applications universal", allowing applications Windows
Runtime can be ported to Windows Phone 8.1 and Xbox One while sharing the same
code base, and allows the user data and a license for an application to be
shared between multiple platforms.
It was later reported that Microsoft is
working on an update to Windows 8, codenamed Threshold, and it was speculated
Threshold which will be branded as "Windows 9", "Windows
X", or "Windows One" (referring to several Microsoft products
recently with the same brand, like the Xbox One and onedrive) on the public
release. Similarly to the "Blue" (which produces Windows 8.1),
Threshold also be a collection of updates that are coordinated across multiple
Microsoft products and services. In July 2014, the new CEO of Microsoft Satya
Nadella explained that the company plans to "streamline the next version
of Windows from three operating systems into one operating system convergence
single screens of all sizes", together Windows, Windows Phone, and Windows
Embedded about architecture a common and unified application ecosystem.
However, Nadella stated that the internal
changes that will have an effect on how the operating systems that are marketed
and sold. A screenshot of a build of Windows that is recognized to be Threshold
leaked in July 2014, reveal the Start menu presented earlier and application
windows, along with a desktop system the new virtual, the notification center,
and, system icons flat newly inspired by Metro design language (replacing icon
system that was first introduced in Windows Vista). In September 2014, the
President of Microsoft Indonesia Andreas Diantoro states that Threshold will be
available for free to all users of Windows 8.
C. NAMED WINDOWS 10
Windows
Threshold was not named as Windows 9, but Windows 10. This is far from the
predictions of many people, who think that after the era of Windows 7 and
Windows 8 ends, then it should be Microsoft Windows 9. Then why skipping
Windows 9 and directly using the name Windows 10 as the latest OS?
It turned out that it is associated with the
number one (one) is quite sacred to Microsoft when ini.OneDrive, OneNote, and
Microsoft's Xbox One is a product that uses one element (one) in it. One word
is used by Microsoft to show that its services have actually been integrated
into the solution all-in-one for anyone.
Likewise
with Windows. Microsoft Windows Threshold actually want to call this as the
Windows One. However, because Windows 1 have never been there and was released
on 20 November 1985 ago, then they can no longer call the latest Windows as
Windows One (although using letters instead of using numbers, but the reading
is the same).
Therefore, Microsoft added 0 behind the number
1 so that the latest Windows version is named as Windows 10.
The
other reason to use the name Windows 10 and skip the Windows 9 name because
Microsoft wants new Windows will only get updated not too much, that will only
complicate users only. And if it will be an update, it will be rolled out only
in the form of small unlike previous Windows versions prior-often to get
updates that affect all the performance to see previous series.
Microsoft
itself is also aware that Windows 8 isn’t so popular when it was launched
because it brings a lot of new things like as Metro UI display and removal of
the Start button. And many Windows users are still persist to use Windows 7
easier and familiar.
In addition, when using the name Windows 9,
then from time to time Windows users will be preoccupied with the many updates
to the migration of the series 9 to 10. Therefore, for memungkaskan it,
Microsoft skipping Windows 9 and directly using Windows 10 that they felt very
familiar , compatible with many devices and adopt a lot of things that has
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Phone and that is in their Surface tablet
products.
Windows
10 is fitted or use of a common codebase, and adopts many of the features found
in Windows 7 as well as some of the views and facilities in Windows 8. This is
done so that the Windows 10 users can still easily operate the new OS without
having to learn more and get some of the features in Windows 8.
According
to the explanation of Joe Belfiore, Corporate VP of the division Operating
Systems Group at Microsoft, this latest operating system will merge all things
and can be used for a variety of devices, both PC and mobile. Unfortunately, in
the event Microsoft does not seem to explain in detail about what is owned and
offered by Windows 10. Microsoft is only saying that Windows 10 will be
launched around April 2015.
D. FEATURE WINDOWS 10
·
Start Menu
The first thing you'll notice in the Anniversary
Update is the Start menu...it's different. There's no longer an "All
apps" menu. Instead, all of your installed apps appear in a list on the
left side of the Start menu. To the left of this list, you'll see icons for
your account, downloads, File Explorer, Settings and Power. To the right of
this list you'll see the tiles and live tiles.
·
Taskbar
The Windows
10 taskbar gets some cool tweaks in the Anniversary Update, including prettier
right-click menus and a dedicated section in the Settings menu. You'll find it
under Personalization > Taskbar.
The taskbar clock and calendar are
now combined -- click the clock and you'll see the time and a list of your
day's events. And if you have multiple displays set up, the clock now appears
on all of them.
·
Cortana on the lock screen
Cortana will
make a small -- but convenient -- move to the lock screen. Once this feature is enabled,
you'll be able to access Cortana by saying "Hello, Cortana" or by tapping the Cortana icon
on the lock screen. Microsoft's digital assistant will be able to perform a
variety of tasks from the lock screen, such as looking up directions,
scheduling appointments or creating reminders.
The Windows 10 lock screen gets a few additional improvements, including the
ability to hide your email address if you sign in with a Microsoft account.
·
Xbox Play Anywhere
Xbox Play Anywhere will bring universal gaming to Xbox and Windows
10 devices. Xbox Play Anywhere is limited to upcoming titles, but games
purchased on the Xbox will be playable on Windows 10 PCs and vice versa. You'll
also be able to move seamlessly between devices -- you can start playing a game
on your Xbox One and pick it up later on your PC.
·
An improved Windows Defender
If you
install a third-party antivirus program in Windows 10, Windows Defender
automatically disables itself. But thanks to a new feature called Limited
Periodic Scanning, Windows Defender can now act as an "additional line of defense" to your existing antivirus
program. When Limited Periodic Scanning is turned on, Windows Defender will
turn itself on to scan your PC periodically (and send you a summary of its
findings when the scan is complete) without interfering with your existing
antivirus program.
For
enterprise users, the Anniversary Update will bring Windows Defender Advanced Threat
Protection, stopping
advanced malicious attacks on networks and Windows Information Protection,
which is itself designed to help protect corporate data.
